TURMOIL IN TEHERAN
Supporters of opposition leader Mir Hossien Mousavi set a fire to avoid the effects of tear gas during protest in Tehran on Saturday June, 20, 2009. Police beat protesters and fired tear gas and water cannons at thousands who rallied Saturday in open defiance of Iran's clerical government, sharply escalating the most serious internal conflict since the 1979 Islamic Revolution. It seems that we are being tear-gassed by the conflicts around the globe;how about lighting the fire of self-building to counterbalance it? National conflicts are both with external enemies and internal divisions. However, the most important conflict is within each of us; the conflict between the competing impulses of selfishness and self-benefit. Shouldn't we recognize the true adversary?
The Provocative Qur'an reminds us...But egotism is within, not without, watching us, itself unwatched. Too often we are worried about our external appearances...
I hope that you will find The Provocative Qur'an an excellent guide towards self-examination. Isn't it high time to read between the newsheadlines a commentary on the need for our own self-improvement?
